Self Introduction

Uncategorized

Hi there! I’m Hojin Jang.

I’m from Seoul, South Korea, and I’m currently studying German Language and Literature at my home university. But to be honest, German language and I don’t really get along. Even though I started off in that major, I found my passion elsewhere—working as a student reporter for my university’s press. That’s why I began studying media and communications as well.

As a student reporter, I covered a wide range of topics, from issues in the university community to campus sports, local politics, and much more. Though juggling reporting and my studies was incredibly demanding, it was one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had.

At the baseball game during Yonsei vs. Korea University—Korea’s biggest university rivalry.

After stepping down from my position as a student journalist and with graduation just around the corner, I felt it was a bit too soon to leave university life behind. I wanted to have one more completely new and different experience. That’s why I decided to go on an exchange program—and here I am, in Munich!

I actually visited Europe two years ago during the winter break, and out of all the cities I explored, Munich stood out as the city where life just felt easier and more peaceful. Even though it’s a big city, it doesn’t feel as crowded or hectic as Seoul. I arrived here this March and began my very first time living abroad.

When I return to Korea, I’ll have just one semester left before graduating and jumping straight into job hunting. I’m sure a whirlwind of stress and busyness is waiting for me. So while I’m here in Munich, I want to enjoy as much freedom and peace as I can.

How do I plan to enjoy my time? Traveling, of course. I love traveling! In May, I’m heading to Paris, and next month my mom and younger sister will be visiting Europe—so I’ll be their tour guide! We’re planning to visit the Czech Republic and Switzerland, two countries my mom has always dreamed of visiting. My mom is already super excited. I hope everything goes well and she has a great time.

I also love exploring different parts of Korea. Even though I’ve lived in Seoul all my life, I still love exploring it like a tourist. If you ever plan to visit Seoul, let me know. I’m basically a Seoul expert!
