Hello hello, welcome to Yinuo’s blog !! I know you’ll have a great time here.

Who is she…?

My name is Yinuo (ee-nu-o), and I come from Singapore, a tiny green island blooming in eternal summer. I’m an ENFP girlie at heart, someone who is extremely curious and ambitious. For most of my life, I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else until I was given the chance to go to Munich for a 5-month exchange. As I am typing this at the one-month mark of my exchange, so much has happened…so let me spill some TEA about what’s been happening.

Exchange is the craziest thing that has happened to me.

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of travel. I barely had time to recover from the shock of seeing my new room here, when I was warmly welcomed by a room filled with short curly hair enough to make 5 wigs, before I had to fly to Finland. I thought I would have a trip of a lifetime, but I had no idea there was a storm impending.

Northern lights and what happened in Finland . έβ˜ƒοΈŽβ‹†βΊβ‚Šβ….

There was something different in the air of Finland. There were so many highlights to this trip, but I was surprised that some of my core memories formed in places I didn’t expect. For example, my first Chinese food buffet there (that I still think about). Seeing the Northern Lights over a frozen lake and I could swear it was cracking under every step (it’s not). It was so cold that I could remember myself trembling, but every second was worth it. I had never seen such a beautiful, clear night sky full of stars, and it made me want to tear up. Other highlights were the strangers along this way that made an impact on me. In fact, I don’t think I will ever forget the friendly couple who shared their favourite spots of Munich with us, and the two quiet soldiers who helped us cook and cut our pizza so we would not get scalded.

Another core memory was something that happened along the trip. I stepped into this trip with confidence, despite it being with people I barely knew. I asked myself, ‘What could go wrong?’ But I was completely unprepared for the incoming disaster. I remember having my worst night crying, missing home, due to the intense stress and internal conflicts happening in the group, which led to the trip ending sourly. It was extremely hard having to go through that, but despite it all, I was glad that the trip gave me so much to learn and look back on. Safe to say, I’m picking my travel buddies much more carefully after this.

When the trip came to an end, and I touched down in Munich, I felt bittersweet but relieved. It felt like I was finally let off that roller coaster, and I could finally breathe again. Even the room situation didn’t faze me anymore; I was just happy to be away from that entire situation. It was a rocky start to my travel diaries, I’m not gonna lie, but I was lucky to have other travels planned after that brought me out of this.

Lake Eibsee was enchanting to say the least. An hour drive from Munich, and I saw the most magical winter wonderland. Despite having seen snow in Finland, this hit so different because I found myself laughing hysterically, having snowball fights, and actually immersing myself in the moment. It felt liberating. I thought to myself, ‘life is worth living,’ so many times during this trip because of how much nature had in store for us that I have yet to discover. A part of me longed to see what’s out there, and what’s more to come. I was filled with content and longing.

Then I explored Prague and had my breath taken away by the amazing Goulash and chimney cake. Both these foods were right up my alley. So were the easter markets and the intricate landscape of Prague. Every single building was carved to such perfection.

I sailed across the river on a paddle boat, next to swans, and experienced seeing a city on its very waters. One hour here simply flew by, and before I knew it, I was coming to the end of my one-month adventure.

As I sent my friends off at the train station, we were still joking and bantering with each other. ‘Of course I won’t miss you!’ But as the train pulled away, the laughter vanished, replaced by tears and frantic waving. Standing on that empty platform, watching them leave, the weight of the moment settled in. I was truly on my own in Munich now β€” and with that, my own adventure officially began.

What’s in store for me

Now that I’m settled in and school is in full swing, I’m so ready to dive into this new chapter. I’m planning to travel, explore, and document more things along the way, so you’ll definitely hear more from me soon.

With that, this is yinuo, signing off. tchuss ~
