Living Abroad for the First Time
AuthorsOriginally from Japan
Hallo! My name is Moka, I’m 20 years old from Fukuoka, Japan. I’m still nervous to live here since I arrived in Munich last week, and this is the first time I’ve gone abroad, except for a trip to Korea. Despite that, I already enjoy the atmosphere of Munich.

My major in Japan is so different from this course. I study about child welfare, especially about ‘Babyklappe’, in Japan. It looks so different between what I studied in Japan and what I study in Germany now. The reason for selecting Media and Communication is that they offer many classes in English and I want a fresh viewpoint instead of revisiting social issues.
Studying Abroad was My Dream
Ever since junior high school, I have harbored the dream of studying overseas. I was born in the countryside prefecture, Kumamoto and was raised there until I graduated from high school. I hoped to live in the other places, and the desire became stronger when I started living alone in university life in Fukuoka. My wish finally became a reality.
I had considered going far from Japan and seeing a lot of beautiful view there. Munich proved to be my best option for travel to several countries. Additionally, I’d like to make friends with people from different backgrounds, as I heard LMU has a lot of exchange students from many countries.
I already have tripped to Salzburg with international friends in my first week. It was awesome for me and I was surprised that I can go abroad by train because Japan is an island.
I hope I could express my opinion in English at the end of this semester. I struggle to speak English, so I want to express what I want to say using English. I have been introverted in Japan but can act differently here, as I adapt to another environment. I wish I could change my personality as well.
What I Want to Do in The Next 3 Months

In the coming three months, I dream of visiting as many Christmas market spots in Germany as possible. I have only visited small Christmas markets that take place in Japan. I love the mood of Christmas and would like to feel it. Additionally, I want to film and capture the views since I also like taking photos. Exploring various locations, savoring the views and local cuisine, and feeling atmosphere are what I hope for.
Moreover, I have become determined to learn German since I arrived here. Though, I cannot attend any German course this semester, I study by myself and hope to order something by German in a restaurant.
Thank you for your attention:)
