A new adventure

Hi, my name is Feline, I’m 21 years old, and I’m an exchange student from the Netherlands, more specifically from Utrecht! I’m in Munich for the winter semester as part of my minor.

At my home university, HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, I’m studying Creative Business. This bachelor’s programme trains you to become a strategist in the creative economy by combining business innovation, technology, creativity, media, storytelling and design. It’s broad and flexible, and through electives you shape your own professional profile. After my bachelor’s, I’d like to continue with a master’s that combines communication with organisational and business sciences. 

Alongside my studies, I’m a member of AUSR Orca, a student rowing club with over 1,000 members. I joined in my first year and trained seven times a week with my team while balancing our studies. We competed in the women’s 8+ against the best first-year crews in the Netherlands and won our very last race of the season. Rowing taught me how to work towards a shared goal and keep going when things get tough.

Besides rowing, I chaired the introduction committee, which registered the new cohort of members and organised the introduction week, a week full of events with up to 1,000 visitors. Leading this team taught me how to plan ahead, delegate and make decisions under pressure. It also showed me how much I enjoy building a community, which is why I’m so interested in the human side of organisations.

My time in Munich has been amazing so far! I arrived in September and rolled straight into Oktoberfest, which turned out to be a fast way to meet loads of lovely people, both international and local. Now I can’t wait to see what the next few months have to offer: my studies, the Christmas markets, and exploring Munich and its surroundings.
