About me and the decision to come to Munich
Authors . UncategorizedHola a todos! My name is Javier, but my friends prefer to use their own customized versions of it. I could say that I’m more used to hear things like “Hey Javs!” or “Qué pasa Javito” than any other kind of greeting followed by a “Javier” (They probably think it sounds kind of serious, although I really like it…). In any case, you can just call me Javi if you see me out there. By the way, I’m 23 years old and yea… I come from Spain.
I was born and raised in Madrid, my hometown. There, I went to a swiss school until the age of 11 and had the opportunity to learn german under the swiss educational system. My parents wanted me to learn the language as my father’s family did, due to the german roots we have. My background is more or less linked to the german culture and that was one of the main reasons, together with the will to improve my german, to decide to do my Erasmus in Munich.
I always had a clear idea that I wanted to spend one year in Germany but I must say that I wasn’t so sure about coming to Munich. I had a great dilemma choosing between Berlin and Munich. I felt very attracted for Berlin because all of its history and cosmopolitan culture. I didn’t visit any of them at that time so it was difficult for me to choose, but the fact that I already had some friends here played a determinant argument in favour of Munich.
At the beginning I was afraid of maybe having played “safe” but after being here for the first whole semester and visiting Berlin, I’m glad to say that I made the correct choice. Munich is a wonderful city, full of beautiful places like the Englisher Garten or the Nymphenburg Palace. It has an extraordinary public transport system which makes it very easy to go everywhere you need, and it has a very nice leisure offer with lots of different cafes, restaurants and clubs. For football fans like me, has one of the best teams in Europe with one of the most impressive stadiums, the Allianz Arena, which thanks to god I had the opportunity to visit and see a Bayern München match. Awesome!
A little bit about me.
Well, I’m a very sociable man who really enjoys to be with people. In fact, that’s my favorite thing in the world. Enjoying a nice time with friends, family or with new interesting people. I like to do very different kinds of plans. A nice plan for me could go from watching an interesting documentary or a football match at home (I’m a great fan of Atlético de Madrid), having some beers with friends and music in a nice spot or go clubbing and dance with my people.
I also really love to travel, I mean…who doesn’t!? traveling is the best way to learn, to open your mind and to be conscious about how different things are depending on which part of the world you are. Favourite place I had the opportunity to visit? It’s very difficult to just say one. Every place has its beauty but if I had to choose something, I would say La Habana is something special.
In a future I would like to work as a journalist in a TV or Radio channel, that would be my dream come true!
See you in Munich, Servus!
