Hello! Nice to meet you!
UncategorizedHallo! Leuk jullie te ontmoeten. Can you guess what language I’m saying this in? It’s Dutch! I’m Michelle (everyone calls me: Mies), 21 years and from the Netherlands. No, I’m not from Amsterdam. There are more cities in the Netherlands than just Amsterdam. I live and study in Utrecht. It’s a cozy city 30 minutes away from Amsterdam. In Utrecht, you have a beautiful canal that runs right through the city. I live in Utrecht for 3 years now. I live in a student house, with 9 others. We are a mixed house, with 5 women and 5 men. This gives a very nice dynamic in the house, it feels like you live with your brothers and sisters.
In my spare time, I’m active at a student rowing club. I met there my friends, with who I’m on a rowing club team. They’re in the picture below. Besides rowing, I’m in a team that’s responsible for the bar at the rowing club. It’s called ‘Koepel’, and we consist of 6 members. I like being responsible for the bar because you meet a lot of new people.
Then something about my parents. I am raised in the north of the Netherlands. It’s called Friesland. I lived there till I was 17 years old. Friesland is a beautiful province, with a very flat environment. My parents build there their own house, with a view over the meadows. I like to have a variety between the busy city and the quiet countryside.
So why did I decide to come to Munich? In the Netherlands, I’m studying Communication, and I had the opportunity to follow my minor abroad. Then I based my choice on my passion for skiing and the language that is spoken. I already knew a bit of the German language, so the choice was quickly made. Besides that, I also liked the idea that I can go home quickly if the country goes in lockdown for example.
The next months are an adventure! I hope I’ll meet a lot of new friends and develop a new vision in the field of communication.
Tot snel! (which means in Dutch, see you soon;))
