From the Dolomites to Munich
AuthorsHi everyone! My name is Giada, I come from Italy and I am 20 years old. I’d like to introduce myself with some wolds that can quickly describe me, such as nature, winter, art, homemade and sports.
I live in a little village named Pellizzano surrounded by mountains, to be more precise, the well known Dolomites. There is where I was born and the place that I think I’ll call home for all my life. Even if I really love traveling and I am already planning to fly to Australia after my bachelor, I am pretty sure I’ll always go back to where all started. I used to say this since I was a little kind but now, after Covid-19, I can understand better why I am so in love with my place. The concepts of community, help and natural still exist there. When I think about people living in that zone the main idea that comes to my mind is healthy and free.
At the moment I am studying communication science in the University of Verona and I am here in Munich to try to learn German. This is a little challenge that I have with myself because even if I studied it for a long time at school I can’t speak it as I would because I used to repeat always the same things without making any progress. A B1 German level is also required at my University to graduate so… here a I am!
Winter season, happy season
Winter is my favorite season that’s why I really hope to see some snow also here in Munich during my semester here! I used to be a ski jumper, I did it for 12 years and at the end of my career I was running for the Italian National Team until the winter season 2019/2020. The decision to stop being an athlete was the hardest one in all my life, but my health needed me to be strong and now I just remember that times as something that taught me a lot. Today I just enjoy a different way of skiing, in fact I don’t fly anymore, but I have my brand new ski that are waiting for me at home for Christmas to go ski mountaineering and then have some fun powdering. I can also snowboard and do telemark.
Another interesting thing about me is that I love doing things in a healthy traditional way, for example I love cooking and every summer I prepare jam, dandelion honey, cough syrup made with pine cone that I also use to prepare grappa and liqueur that my dad loves. I am also learning to do homemade soap and shampoo with natural oils but I definitely need to improve my recipe, so at the moment this is still one of the points in my to learn list.
I have also some more artistic hobbies like jewelry making with the wire wrapping technique and painting. I used to sell handmade bracelets and charms on Instagram on the profile @artofastone.
And… that’s it! Thanks for reading!!
