My last 2 field trips

UncategorizedHello les bloggers,
On Tuesday May 13, I had the chance to take part in a field trip with my class. So I was able to discover the offices of the Münchner Merkur/TZ newspaper. At first, I thought that newspapers would soon disappear because young people read less and less newspapers but the lady who hosted us told us that they still sell a lot of newspapers. And she also told us about their versatility, in fact, they are diversifying through the internet by having a weblog and an instagram account. In addition, we had the chance to see the premises, as well as the different journalists who were working on their themes : sports, politics, international news. I even could see a that someone was writing about a french actor Gerard Depardieu because he was found guilty in sexual assault, and since I am French I felt even more concerned. And we finished this field trip by making our own newspaper’s page from Merkur/TZ. So we took a picture that we put on the page and it was really a fun way to finish it.
And on Tuesday May 20, I took part in a field trip again with my class for the Süddeutsche Zeitung this time. And this time it was different because we discovered the behind the scene of the print of the newspaper. So it was even more impressive. Because we don’t have this opportunity every day to see the instruments, the mechanism of the machines that print, move the paper and fold it. So I learned that papers that were not perfectly printed went directly to recycling but I also asked if they use recycled paper to make their newspapers and they don’t use much because recycled paper is too expensive. I was a little bit disappointed about his answer but I hope that one day this newspaper and all newspapers will change their way of doing and thinking and will move towards more eco-friendly means in the future. But to finish in a more positive way, at the end of the field trip, the man that hosted us gave us the next day’s newspaper in advance. And since it was the 80th birthday of the Süddeutsche Zeitung he also gave us the very first one newspaper of this Zeitung. But since I don’t speak German well enough to understand the newspaper, I asked my German roommate to read it and then explain it to me haha
To conclude these 2 field trips were a very great experience and I hope I will do it again !
