What i see for the future of journalism (last blogpost)

UncategorizedHello les bloggers,
With all I have learned during the field trips and my research, here is what I think of how journalism could end up in a few years.

First of all, we have to know what a journalist is, so I brought a definition according to the PBA University « a journalist is someone who writes for newspapers, magazines, news websites, or live news broadcasting ». Thus, we can say that a journalist is someone who work for traditional media and not on social media for example.
But what I think and what Felix Haselsteiner thinks also is that journalist for newspapers could one day disappear.

The first possibility, the most obvious today, is that newspapers and news-agencies will become less and less used and read. People, especially young people will surely watch the news and see the information on the internet or on social media and less on traditional media. The radio, the newspapers and the television will become less and less important in the eyes of the young ones. The job of journalist will decrease drastically, for economic reasons. But other reasons can be mentioned, for example, an environmental reason for daily newspapers, because it uses too much trees and papers just for reading the journal one day and throwing it into the trash. Indeed, during the Field trip in the Süddeutsche Zeitung, I became more aware of the amount of papers created and used per day from the news-agencies and I was really surprised to see it in front of my eyes. News agencies have a real environmental impact, such as other big firms that will be hard to bear in a world that is suffering a great deal of environmental damage. The future of journalist is not that much positive, in my opinion.
But i also think that later on, traditional media will make a comeback as the most trustful media. Because with the raise of news on internet platforms or on social media, people would lose confidence in the media, and in the information they read on the internet. As we gradually move towards an almost total reliance on AI. Thus people would try to go back to the sources, so to traditional media in order to get information treated and contextualized by professionals, in which they will search for truth, no fake news nor deepfakes. I think, people will more look for intellectual news and will try to be better informed and thus be less on their screen but more on papers, newspapers.
I think that, everything always comes back at some point. For example, fashion recycles itself, and I think the media will too.

To conclude, I think that only future will tell us how journalism will end up.
Thank you for reading my work !
Bye les bloggers 😉
