Beginning of the journey
Authors . UncategorizedWhat is your name: Ele
Why are you in Munich: Before I started my exchange semester in Munich, I was already in Munich a few times on vacation. I fell in love with this city, it has a unique flair, great people, the many cultural offers. Of course, the university is also very beautiful, and it was a strange feeling during the first weeks to know that I was going to the university where the Geschwister-Scholl were arrested. In the inner building there is the atrium and there is also a memorial for the White Rose.
Also the English garden is beautiful and offers many great retreats. What I am most looking forward to at the moment is the Christmas Market and the Tollwood Winter Festival.
Where are you from: I live in Switzerland, in the capital Bern. I grew up there and also go to university there.
What are your hopes and dreams for this next semester: I want to get to know Munich better, get an insight into another university and of course meet new people.
In addition, I find it very exciting to work in the same student organization as in Bern (AIESEC) and to see the differences and similarities here as well. I was able to learn a lot of new things in this short time and am looking forward to everything I will learn in the future.
My first weeks in Munich: My first month in Munich passed very quickly. The first two weeks without university were a bit hard because I didn’t have a rhythm yet and didn’t know any people. But in the second week there was a Welcome Day for international students. That day I met a girl from Sweden and the people she was there with. They asked me if I would come with them to Salzburg the next day, which I did. Seven of us went to Salzburg in a beautifully mixed group: Sweden, France, Italy and Switzerland.
In the second week we still had some events, which were organized by the student fraternity Erasmus Munich.
In the first week I joined the student organization Aiesec, I was already a part of this organization in Bern. It is very exciting to see how the same organization differs in different countries and still pursues the same goal. Right after the first week of university, we went to the National Conference and had a wonderful and very instructive weekend in the Harzer Park. I could learn a lot of new things about Aiesec and especially about my Department: Talent Management.
