A festival, a boat and saving a bunny from starvation
Student life . Travel . UncategorizedWhile I personally don’t often set out to view nature myself, I have a lot of friends who feel a strong connection to nature. I can experience nature as beautiful as much as any other person, however it usually isn’t my idea of spending time. That said, because some of my friends do have that strong connection, I still get to see the beauty of nature from time to time as they take me along for sightseeing. Last summer holiday we went to Croatia for a festival. Not only was the location for this festival incredibly gorgeous, the nature in and around the town where we visited was unlike any I’ve seen before. Croatia has a plethora of little islands along it’s coast as you can see in the picture. It’s quite stunning. We got on a boat party at this festival as well, which was possibly the best thing about this holiday. The combination of the perfect music while cruising in between the islands at a beautiful sunset. 10/10, I would recommend that to anyone.

I have yet to explore nature in and around Munich much apart from cycling through the Englischer Garten a few times. I have heard a lot about lakes, mountains and even some waterfalls around Munich that sound nice to see some time, but I have not had the chance yet. In the city itself there isn’t much to see in my experience. I bought a bicycle the week I moved here and have been riding to school and the city center ever since. Apart from the Englischer Garten I’ve seen mostly roads, cars and construction.
In The Netherlands my experience with nature is a bit different. I am from a small town near Utrecht in which there’s more green around than in a bigger city like Munich but it is also not as stunning as I experienced in Croatia. Back when I was just a little boy, I used to play around in a long open field of grass, maybe a kilometer long and wide, at the edge of town. On this field there were bushes and some smaller trees and plants, as well as tiny hills here and there. This field would later become a new residential area, so they were already preparing the area for construction. That moment was great for us, as they had placed bricks all around the field without having started building anything yet. They had it like that for months. For us kids this was the perfect spot to play as we had nature, grass and bushes everywhere on one hand, and our own bricks to build little sheds and walls with. I remember building small bunkers on the side of the little hills. We used to make our own little wooden guns and play war.
One time while we were playing on that field, during a time when they already started construction here and there, we found a small bunny who looked lost and confused. At first we didn’t notice it that much, but as we were coming back there almost every day, the bunny would show up more often as well. We figured it may needed some food and water as his/her habitat was being destroyed and it may have put the poor thing off balance and trying to get help. We bought some lettuce at the grocery store a few times and we would fill a little hole in the ground with water for it to drink. After this the bunny started showing up every day, eventually even trusting us enough to let us pet and hold it. We told our parents about our little bunny friend and they said we might need to let the little guy/girl checked out by a vet. Turned out he was a little sick and used to be a domestic bunny in stead of a wild one, so he may have run away from home. Eventually our little friend got better and we found it a home with some animal lovers in our neighborhood and it lived happily ever after.
