You should go to the cinema more often!

Since I was really young, I always was excited to go to the movies. I think I remember my first movie experience: I celebrated my sixth birthday and I invited a whole group of people to go to the cinema with me. We went to the first Shrek movie and we were all really loud and excited. After I went to this film, my love for going to the movies started. What I love about movies is that a fictional character comes to live from for example a book and your fantasy to a real image. This is the feeling I had when I saw the first Harry Potter movie. A lot of details that are described in a book, can be showed in one image of a film. But because technology changed and grew, people can see a lot of movies and series online on Netflix or other platforms. For me, that made watching movies less special, because it is not a whole experience anymore. It is not exciting to watch a movie anymore, people watch a movie when they have nothing to do. What I love about going to the movie is watching a movie together with a friend, getting salty popcorn and seeing a movie on a big screen. The moment the lights in the room go out and you are waiting and excited to see the movie. That is a great experience for me. When I got older, I watched a lot of movies on Netflix, because I didn’t have a lot of money to go to the movies. But a few years ago, I really missed going to the movies. I told this to my boyfriend, and he got me a membership to the cinema. Almost every week I went to the cinema, until I had to end my membership because I moved to München.

Luckily in München, I also have a lot of friends who enjoy going to the movies. When we talked about our favourite movie genres, we all got excited to go to the movies. My friends and I come a lot at the movies, and one time we were asked to go to a free new movie. The purpose of this was to review it and give notes, so the makers of the movies could make final changes. We were really excited and did not know the name of the movie. Now we know the title of the movie: Wreck-it Ralph 2. We all did not see Wreck-it Ralph 1, so it was interesting to see if we understood something. It did not help that the whole movie was in German, and we all could not speak or understand German very well. This is very different in the Netherlands. We do not change the language of the movie, we just have Dutch subtitles.

The film is a comedy film from Walt Disney for children, but still a feel-good-movie for the whole family. The main character Vanellope longs for change and gets introduced to the internet. Her best friend does not want anything to change. At the end, her best friend realises that he should let her go. This was a lovely message, without complicated scenes.
For me, the best part was not the plot of the movie, but people dressed up at the cinema as characters of the movie. If you would watch a movie alone at home, you would not get the whole experience of the film. So, I recommend everyone to go at least once a month to the cinema!
