Maintain strong curiosity
City life . Culture . Student life . Travel . UncategorizedI arrived in Munich on September 25, 2018, and started my new life as an exchange student. There is only one month left before my exchange life ends and I decided to ask myself those questions: What was the biggest difficulty you have overcome? What impressed you the most and what was your biggest gain? I hope to have some answers to these questions in the following context.
Exchange life is more challenging than imagination
For me, coming to Munich was the first time I came to a strange country and start living alone. The biggest difficulty I have come to think of was the inconvenience caused by language barriers and the need to adapt to the different lifestyle between Germany and China. However it was full of challenge and far more than my imagination. First of all, I missed my family very much. Since my school and university were in the same city as my family was, I didn’t have the experience of leaving home for a long time. So when I started to be an exchange student, I cannot adapt to this situation quickly. Fortunately, after overcoming this, I became more independent. Secondly, since there has been a long time you need to stay alone, you would have a great sense of loneliness. Germany and China have a time difference of six hours ( seven hours in winter), so you have to spend your long-night-time without any familiar friend. I chose movies, books, writing, cooking and some other ways to adapt the lonely night and enjoy myself.(The dish I learn to cook for myself)
Travel as much as possible in continental Europe
During the three-month exchange, I went to Italy, Austria, Hungary, France, Spain and Portugal, and was deeply impressed by every different trip. I have seen the sunset of the Venice, the night view of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the sea outside the mountain town of Lisbon…… The different scenery of the journey have greatly shocked me and it was hard to express by words. (Beautiful scenery I saw during the trip)
People of different personalities are free to live their lives leisurely in different countries. When I saw this, I began to become more tolerant and and my vision became wider. I was even more aware of the phrase “existence is reasonable” and I thought curiosity was very important on the road. Curiosity will drive people to see more beautiful scenery and experience more different culture. To explore the world through curiosity, you can enjoy the world more.(A photo in front of the Shakespeare Bookstore)
Learn more practically at LMU
During the period of LMU study, I felt that the most rewarding thing was to cultivate a strong desire for knowledge and a pragmatic way of learning. LMU’s professional curriculum is more concentrated, the reading tasks after class are more arduous, and the degree of relevance to the course is higher. The content of the course is from shallow to deep, step by step, enabling students to learn more methods and to learn more practically. And the final task of the class was also driven by curiosity, found what you want to do and worked hard to complete it. In the process, you could easily get advice and help from the teacher and never be shamed of asking question. Through communication, you could achieve your goals more confidently and smoothly. I really appreciated and enjoyed this learning process.
I still have a month to enjoy my exchange life, I hope to explore this continent as much as possible, and learn more about Munich and Germany. I hope to be able to maintain ample curiosity about the world, so that it can accompany me to meet more challenges!
