Aim for “Aimy”
AuthorsMy love for Munich started when I visited Munich as the ambassador of Macromedia University of Applied Sciences Exchange Program. Sounds serious? Nope, it turned out to be an awesome week of travelling in Munich. During the short get away I was enchanted by the calming vibe, the history of the city, the beautiful architecture; and of course the beer. When I returned back to Thailand, I organised events and was the guide for German exchange students. From the “I’m shy, please come say hi” girl, I opened up and became very social. I find conversing with people from contrasting cultures very interesting; learning about the similarities and dissimilarities really make me see the other side of the perspective. That is why Munich has always been the dream destination for my exchange.
That same girl made it to Munich for this summer exchange; and her name is Aimy. She was born and raised in Thailand and just turned 20 last month.
(Fun fact! Her grandparents are from China so the traditions in her house is very different from Thai Thais. That is another cultural different she learned to appreciate since young.)
I flew across the world to enjoy this break away from the chaotic city of Bangkok. Bangkok is the city where it is summer all year round and is always vibrant, lit by the street lights and food stalls. People in my hometown are always smiley and that is why I have learnt to be a very friendly and positive person.
Growing up in the heart of Thailand, you live a faster paced life. I like being active and am always participating in different activities, grasping all the opportunity there is to get out of my boundaries. The activities varied from reading books, playing piano, organising events, practicing kickboxing, to trekking up the hills in the outskirts of town.
Since I am in Munich, I have learned to appreciate the slower paced life. The little things in life starts to be more meaningful; bonding with friends, chilling in the park, cooking home-cooked meals. But I will still be going out of my comfort zone to try new things; travelling and experiencing the new cultures. Going to Fruhlingsfest became one of the highlights too! Germans really drinks! Visiting different landmarks and learning about the historical culture is also interesting; Nymphenburg palace, Munich Residenz and Neuschwanstein Castle is still on the bucket list. These all sparks joy and all I wish is to keep exploring more of what makes me happy.
Let’s keep making good memories!
Xoxo,
Aimy
