More than just swiss cheese
AuthorsHi everyone, my name is Nadine. Cheese, chocolate, mountains and Heidi. Those are the first words I got to hear, when I tell people where I am from. If you haven’t guessed yet… yes, I am talking about Switzerland. The country I was born 22 years ago.
I was raised in a very small village with barely 1000 inhabitants close to Zurich. I think I have seen more cows than people there. So coming to a city with over 1.5 million people was for me a big change which I feared a bit. What am I going to do without my cows? Am I going to be lost? I have to admit that I still need the navigation on my phone every time I go out of my apartment. But it’s getting better and I hope that I’m soon going to able to memorize the places by heart.
The very first time I came to Munich was only one month ago and although Munich is only four hours away from my home, I haven’t made it to Munich yet. I was very amazed by the city and still am! I feel very comfortable and I especially like the many parks and history Munich has to offer. Since I’m here I already had the pleasure to met a lot of interesting people from all around the world and I’m excited to get to know them better.
Before the exchange I had mixed feelings about coming here all alone in such a big city, knowing nobody but after only one month, I have to say that this was the best decision I could have made. I’m very curious about the studies in the communication field and I hope that I will be able to get a lot of insides and different aspects in this huge and various field.
I’m very looking forward spending the upcoming semester here in the beautiful capital of Bavaria. I already had the chance to go to the Frühlingsfest, where I had the best beer ever and a lot of fun (yes, I’m the smallest). I hope that I’m going to develop myself – not only in my studies – but also personally.
