Sweet sweet freedom!
AuthorsGreetings! My name is Saoirse (Seer-sha), I’m 20 years old and I come from Ireland, hence the impossible-to-read-if-you’re-not-Irish name! Saoirse means freedom in Irish and so I like to live by my name and live freely.
I’ve come to Munich on Erasmus for one semester but to be honest there was no real thought behind choosing to study here. Although to appease those that ask the question ‘Why Munich?’ I usually say something along the lines of… to broaden my knowledge of the rest of the world outside of Ireland, to make new friends and to learn German, because that sounds somewhat believable!
Anyway, I live in Dublin back home and even though it’s the capital city of Ireland, it’s very small and I have come to the conclusion that I’ve basically exhausted the pool of things to do and people to meet there and so was extremely keen to get away for a few months. I came here on my own at the start of April in hopes that I’d instantly make friends because not knowing anyone in a city where you don’t quite speak the language and have never been before isn’t the most ideal situation. It took a couple of weeks but I slowly started to get to know people around me and now all is well.
‘What are your likes and interests?’ Well, seeing as you asked… I love movies and anything to do with film in general! I have a list of about 200 films that I need to watch and as soon as I have free time I could easily sit down and watch three or four movies back to back. Also, you can’t beat going to the cinema when the weather’s bad or you’ve got a few hours to kill, especially during the day because no one goes to the cinema during the day so it feels like a private screening! Apart from movies, I like listening to music, being outdoors and cooking and eating good food!
I really don’t have much else to say about myself so I’ll leave you with a little reminder… it’s pronounced SEER-SHA 😉
