introducing me
Authors . UncategorizedHi everyone! My name is Carrine and I’m from the sunny island, Singapore. I’m currently a second-year student pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies back home and on a semester-long exchange here in Munich to hopefully ~broaden my horizons~ and learn, learn, learn.
This is the longest I’ve ever been away from home and frankly, I was terrified before stepping foot in Europe for the very first time in March. There is nothing reminiscent of Singapore, or rather, Asia, here in Munich but as cheesy as it sounds, I guess that’s something great about us humans, we adapt! I’ve gotten used to the environment and have had loads of eye-opening experiences ever since touching down in March. I’ve met new people, tried new cuisines, learnt how to do laundry (lol), traveled to places I’ve always wanted to visit – besides Germany – such as London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam and Paris!
I guess I decided that Munich was the perfect destination to do my exchange programme because I’ve heard great things about studying and living in Germany, plus points for safety and the city’s fantastic public transportation system (some may think otherwise but I was truly impressed upon arriving here)! So far, I’ve absolutely no regrets and I’m really enjoying my time here.
I’m surprised that I’ve yet to feel homesick because I’ve always been a total homebody back in Singapore. Back home, I had to stay in the student dormitory in my university which was a 40-50 minute drive away from where I lived and I remember jumping at every chance to be back home with my family and my mischievous Pomeranian pup, Nugget! My hobbies also include reading, illustrating and watching movies/TV series, everything that involves being in the comfort of my own home :’-) hence, the disbelief towards the fact that I’m able to live in a foreign country on my own without crying over how much I miss Singapore.
That being said, I’m incredibly thankful to be given the opportunities that I have here in Munich and I’m super excited to see more, do more and grow more during what’s left of my time here!
