A fresh start.
AuthorsHello everyone. My name is Mariana, I was born and raised in Mexico City and decided to pursue my studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Halfway into my second year of university, I was offered the opportunity to apply for a semester abroad for my third year. Little did I know that the process was going to take such a long time. I remember I was given the option to choose between many countries. However, Europe has always been a big dream of mine and I, naturally, decided to apply to a European university.
Initially, Germany wasn’t one of my first options. However, as I started to do more research on the cities and universities, LMU seemed to be the right fit for me. From LMU’s exceptionable reputation, to the beauty of the city, my two months in Germany have been indescribable. I have met so many people from different countries and since diversity has always been an essential aspect in my life, Munich just feels like home. Of course, it is very different to Mexico City and Vancouver, but my time here has made appreciate every little thing back home. I truly don’t regret choosing this beautiful german city for my semester abroad.
Some of my hobbies include photography, filmmaking and museum hopping. I have been trying to document my experiences here in Munich (and Europe) with my camera. I know it will bring me good memories when I look back at them once I’m home. So far I’ve only visited Salzburg, Nuremberg and Berlin. But I will visit Italy in a couple of weeks! Really happy about that since it will be my first time there.
As of now, I’m still unsure as to what the future will bring. I have one more year until I graduate but for now I will try to make the most out of this experience.
