Mindset of a Wanderer
Authors . UncategorizedHello there! My name is Valeria Martínez Strasser, I am a spanish-austrian 22 years old student, I come originally from Ávila (Spain) and I study Translation and Interpreting (German-English-Spanish) in a very beautiful spanish city called Salamanca. I like music, art, languages, to travel and to write, among other things. Want to know more? Then, keep on reading.
If you look at my picture you would think that I am just a normal girl with lilac crutches who needs an urgent nap, but behind each photo there is always a story. Mine begins on the 3rd of June 1997, that night my mother got triplets. Two of them, my brother and I, got disabilities. When I was little I used to consider it a curse, but nowadays I consider it a blessing. Why? Having a disability has taught me so much about life, about fighting for what you want, about mental strength, limits, motivation and most importantly, about myself. Thanks to all I have experienced I have been able to develop a strong positive mindset regarding life and I consider that a gift.
With that same mindset I have decided to come to Munich, mainly to improve my German vocabulary and writing skills, and as there are no translation studies at LMU, I have used this opportunity to study something new as it is Communication (major) and Art studies(minor). Why? Firstly, I find these studies really interesting and secondly, communication is such a wide subject, that I can learn vocabulary from different fields, which I can later apply in my future translations.
In conclusion, regarding my future, I do not know yet what I want to be, maybe a journalistic or/and an audiovisual translator. I love languages and to write, so I hope in my future job I can do something related to that (while traveling the world hahaha).
I am looking forward to learn a lot this year about this new studies and to gather a lot of experiences while living abroad in this beautiful city.
Thanks for reading,
-V
