Munich 2: Electric Boogaloo
AuthorsI first visited Bayern in 2015 on a high school exchange trip and I loved everything about it: the proximity to the mountains, the heavenly bakeries, and the rich culture of a state that was once its own country. It was my first time traveling without my family and I soon realised that 3 weeks here would never be enough.
So here I am, 4 years later, for round 2! Some of the wonder definitely wears off through everyday experiences like the stress of bagging groceries in Aldi, but I could not be happier to be able to study and make a life in Munich for a whole year.
My name is Charlotte and I am a 20 year old American student, majoring in German, Arabic and Public Policy. I hope to not only improve my language skills this year, but to also put them to use by volunteering with Syrian refugees in my spare time. Aside from that, I’m excited to explore the countryside of Bayern and go on lots of hiking trips while I’m here. (The photo is of me at the summit of my first mountain in the Alps!) There is still so much to explore and I have a feeling that even an entire year here will not be enough for me. So in the meantime, I’m excited to travel, explore, and maybe start planning for round 3! 🙂
