Some words about me
Student life . TravelHey! My name is Milana Gadzhieva.
It seems to me that by my name and surname it’s easy to guess that I am from Russia. However, almost every time I meet new people abroad, I’m told that I don’t look like a “Russian” because I have black hair and eyes. And it makes me happy when I hear this, because it gives me the opportunity to tell that there are a lot of nationalities in Russia and that I come from the most multinational republic called Dagestan. This is an incredibly beautiful place with canyons, the sea, a dune, a liana forest and a lot of mountains. I belong to the Lezgin nation, most of whom come from the southern villages of Dagestan. We have our own culture and traditions, including dance, cuisine, clothing, folklore and crafts. I lived in my republic until I was 17, and then moved to Moscow to study at the best university in Russia – Moscow State University, at the Faculty of Journalism. By the way, it was a great stress for me, because all my life I lived in a place where the climate is always warm and it barely snowed, and in Moscow it is very cold. After 4 years, I completed my bachelor’s degree and entered the master’s degree at the same faculty. And now I am 22 and I am in my last year of master’s degree.
To be honest, I applied for the master’s degree to participate in the exchange program. I’ve been learning German for three years now, and that’s why I decided to go to Germany. And Munich seemed to me the most interesting city there, because most of the places that I would like to visit in Germany are located in Bavaria. And of course, the main goal of my decision to study abroad is to have an unforgettable experience, make new friends and improve my foreign languages. In addition, for me, as a citizen of Russia, during a pandemic, this is almost the only chance to travel a lot in Europe, because the borders are closed.
So in the next three months, despite the huge amount of study assignments and the cold (that I hate), I will travel so much to survive another lockdown without seeing the world 😀
