Tourist in my own country
UncategorizedHello there, my name is Isabeau and I’m 24 years old. I grew up in Germany, but I am half Dutch/ half English and doing my Bachelor in the Netherlands. The Netherlands is a great place to study, and the Dutch culture is completely different compared with the German culture I can tell! You might ask yourself why I am doing my Erasmus in Germany if I grew up here. Well, that’s a good point! Unfortunately, there weren’t many options because of Corona, but always make the best out of every situation I’d like to say. Also, I really feel home in both countries and like to work in Germany someday. So, I am happy to be in Munich right now and the city has so much to offer!
As you can read in my title, I am feeling very much like tourist here. Munich is different to the place I grew up and the mountains are just around the corner. How cool is that? I really can’t wait to go out there in the winter for skiing. Next to the nature, the best part of being an Erasmus student here is that there are so many international students. One night I talked to people out of at least 10 different nations. Especially after 1,5 years without travelling, this feels kind of unreal.
Further I am excited to explore all the sights Munich has to offer. Last week for example I visited the Residence and the English Garden. I was really impressed by the size of this park and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. I didn’t feel like I was in the middle of big city at all. The first 2 weeks here have been great, and I’m excited to spend the next month’s here.
Well that’s enough about me for now, I hope I could give you a little impression about me and why I am in Munich.
