From Doctor to Actor.
UncategorizedThroughout my life, I’ve been asked about my dream job a lot of times. The answer has changed that many times that I can’t even count them. And as I get older, giving a proper answer to the question it’s getting harder and harder.
When I was a child I used to believe I wanted to become a hairdresser. I was obsessed with hair and I even asked Santa more than once for a hairdresser bust to train my “hairstyling” skills. However, it lasted until I turned 9 years old.
In 2009, my grandfather had a heart attack when he was taking care of me and went recovered easily thanks to medicine. So, it was when I was 9 years old that I realized how important and magical medicine is. For years I had clear I wanted to become a doctor. A cardiologist, to be specific.
Nevertheless, I turned 12 years old and I increasingly started to be obsessed with theatre. I remember I used to ask my mother to bring me to the theatre every single weekend and I always managed to play the lead roles in school plays. My obsession grew and I joined a theatre school when I was 14. And, since it appeared, the obsession still remains. Theatre became my passion during my teenage years and when I turned 18 I decided to move to Madrid (from Valencia) to start studying theatre.
My parents have always supported me with my theatre studies, but also wanted me to get a University degree. For that reason, and because I always loved traveling and writing, I also started to study Journalism and International Relations at the Rey Juan Carlos University. For years, I studied at University while studying theatre. And, even though I liked my degree, theatre always remained my priority.
So I thought I had my thoughts finally clear. I thought I would dedicate my life to theatre. But Erasmus came.
Erasmus has brought me not only amazing friendships, memories and adventures, but another perspective of life. I’ve travelled a lot, I’ve met a lot of people from different cultures and different nationalities, and it has allowed me to learn and grow as a person as I never thought I would ever do. In this sense, I discovered I would also love to dedicate my life to travel and learn languages, to discover the world. And for that, I would need to have a job that provided me with those opportunities.
In that direction, becoming a correspondent journalist, continuing my studies on international relations or looking for different job opportunities and just keep traveling all around never seemed that appealing.
So, what is my dream job? Becoming a recognized theatre or TV actor? Continuing my studies in journalism and international relations? None of them? I think the answer is yet to come. And, as I still have time remaining before finishing my Bachelors and Theatre Studies, I prefer not to stress that much. Life will tell.
