Ahoj! Servus! Hi!
UncategorizedHi everyone! My name is Hanka and I come from the Czech republic. I am 22, the youngest kid in our family. Growing up I always had a lot of hobbies. I used to dance different styles, sing in a choir, play the guitar, paint, read a lot and write even more. Lately all I manage to do in this busy age is meeting friends over a cup of coffee, occasional yoga and some culture every now and then. I certainly can’t complain though! On top of that I love nature, mountains, sunsets, comedies and late night talks. 🙂
I spent my childhood in a small town and I always knew that one day I want to study in Prague – in such a beautiful capital in the heart of Europe full of history, towers, parks and possibilities. I just didn’t know what I wanted to study. Before graduating from high school I made a list of programs at all public universities in Prague (because we have the privilege to study for free) and I started crossing them out until there were only few options left. One of them was Communication studies (with specialization in marketing and public relations) at Charles University. I really liked that the institute is located on the right bank of Vltava with a lovely view of the Prague Castle. It was decided! Little did I know that because of the Covid-19 pandemic I will study the first two semesters online anyway. However, I just started my third year of bachelor’s degree and I am happy that I chose communication as a field of my studies. I think it suits me.
Erasmus seemed to me as a great oportunity to grow in many ways. Honestly I haven’t dreamed of spending semester in Germany. I was more excited about exploring the north or the south of Europe. But just in case that I wouldn’t get where I wanted at first, I also applied for Munich which was despite the prestige of LMU less desired by our students. I was thinking that at least I know the language a bit (silly me going to Bavaria) and it’s close to my home and to my ex boyfriend (silly me again). But here I am, now single and ready to mingle. No, I am kidding, it just fit there. Although I really believe that everything happens for some reason and I don’t regret ending up here at all. Munich reminds me of Prague but has a different vibe. It might be exactly the environment I need to experience right now. So far I met so many interesting, open-minded and friendly people thanks to whom I can learn more about other cultures. I can also finally after the lockdown enjoy a true student life. And last but not least I can really benefit from spending some time alone and away. I hope that I will leave full of unforgettable memories. Maybe I will share some of them next time!
Tak zatÃm! Bis bald! See you!
