Say Hi to MUC
UncategorizedHi Munich! Here is Yuna. My name is Wong Tsz Ching, in Chinese. I study Media and Communication at the City University of Hong Kong. I come from Hong Kong, only a dot in the world. But I think it is far from enough. Unlike Germany, it doesn’t take much time to travel from the north to the south. Hong Kong is a fast-paced city as people walk fast, work fast, eat fast…I feel like I am always racing with the time. Interestingly, Hong Kong’s spoken language differs significantly from the written language. It is just like two kinds of language. On the other sides, I miss the Asian food in Hong Kong. Mainly, I miss the street in Hong Kong, such as red bean pudding, egg waffles, dim sum, curry fishballs, deep-fried dough sticks, faux shark’s fin soup and lemon tea. They are all my favourite food! I recommend all these food to Hong Kong travellers.
Why Munich? This is my first time to experience the european life. I am very curious with the history and the development of Europe. Munich fulfill my wish as it is a blend of historic and modern. The most inspired place in Munich is Marienplatz, it is the best example of the fusion of historic and modern. You could see the old building like the Neues Rathaus, Peterskirche. They are all located in front of the modern building such as the shopping malls, restaurants, supermarket.Comparing with my home town, it is totally a different world.
Exchange experience is always good for our career in curtain aspects and Munich is a global place that gather different culture and background of people. The most important goals for me is to get know about the country more and exchange the cultural with different kinds of people. As a student of media and communication, I am also willing to chat with several types of people and share our point of view to each other. I hope to open my eyes as if I only study in a Asian culture, my point of view will be narrow. Culture is always need to experience in person but not by books and words.
I am always impatient in doing all the things, I only focus on the efficience. It made me miss the root of all the thing. For instance, we study hard to get a better opportunity in our future career so we could improve our life. It made me forgot the enjoy the wonderful thing around me and feel depressed. Sometimes we have to slower our steps and appreciate what we have. Therefore, Munich is the best place for me to improve the quality of my life. I think the first attempt of me is to cook myself. I care more of the food’s nutrition. My mum told me that I got fatter after I have come here.
Cooking is always make me feel satisfied. I hope I can cook for my family when I come back Hong Kong.
Also, it is a precious chance for me to travel around Europe as Germany is in the middle of Europe. I plan to travel a lot at the weekend because the air ticket is cheap and the bus is convenient. I have already travelled to Northern Europe, like Norway and Sweden, and Southern Europe, like the Czech Republic and Hungary. They are all fantastic! It will go on to be my most unforgettable memory ever. I will never forget the sightseeing view and food there. They are all special. For instance, in Norway, I tried salmon and in the Czech Republic, I tried pork and beer. I hope to travel more in the future to explore the world. I can’t wait for the next trip!
A kindly reminder for all the newcomers to exchange soon is that you have to learn the language of the country you will stay in. You will find it challenging to communicate with the local people and even live in the country. Empirically, I think you have to learn the daily valid German words if you come here. And you also need to build your confidence to speak in German. Never sacred to try! I think everyone will do dumb things when they first come. It is always the process to grow up too.
