Goodbye Munich and miss you!
UncategorizedGoing for an exchange to Munich is one of the best choices in my life, time flies and it has been 4months already after our first meeting. I still remember the embarrassing and shy vibes in our first meeting, it was always the most memorable and cute moment. For me, it was a great chance to meet interesting people from different countries, share our own cultures, and have some nice conversations. This blog post captures the excitement of my first month and the bittersweet emotions that accompanied my departure.
When I arrived in Munich, I was overcome with a mixture of nerves and exhilaration. It was incredibly stunning, the town’s rich history and vibrant atmosphere immediately attracted me, with its impressive architecture and calming vibe. I was astounded by the combination of ancient charm and modern sophistication. The world-class institutions, like the Alte Pinakothek and the Deutsches Museum, provided fascinating insights into art, history, and science. Every turn revealed a new discovery, whether it was the lovely Englischer Garten or the lively Viktualienmarkt. The active nightlife, with its historic beer gardens and fashionable clubs, provided a unique social milieu in which I was able to engage with both fellow exchange students and locals.
I knew I was in for a memorable experience the moment I went on my first field trip. Participating in media-related events, workshops, and conversations helped me get a better grasp of media creation, journalistic ethics, and the expanding digital landscape. Munich’s media culture not only expanded my knowledge but also pushed me to seek a career in this dynamic and prominent industry. Among all the field trips I’ve taken, I guess my favorite has been to the printery. I’ve never been to a printery before, and I’m going to the largest and most famous printery in Munich, Sueddeutsche Zeitung. It was fascinating to learn about the printing process.
As an exchange student, I’ve had the amusing fortune of bouncing from one place to another like a caffeine bunny on a mission around Europe. Every place I’ve visited has its own distinct personality, such as that one acquaintance who insists on wearing mismatched socks. Barcelona, the city of eternal fiestas, where people’s dancing moves are as hypnotic as the Olympic pool’s synchronized swimmers. Graffiti is an art form in Berlin, and hipsters prowl the streets like elusive unicorns. Then there’s Amsterdam, where bikes outnumber people and getting lost in a cloud of “special” smoke is almost a rite of passage. Oh, the experiences and laughs I’ve had in these European towns! As the end of my exchange program approached, I became increasingly hesitant to leave. Munich had become my home away from home, and my new friends had become like family to me. Parting ways and returning to my native nation elicited mixed emotions in me. While I was excited to see my loved ones again, I couldn’t help but feel sorry about leaving behind the life I had made in Munich.
We reminisced about our shared experiences and expressed thankfulness for the connections we had established in the closing weeks. We relished every opportunity to explore the city and appreciate its cultural offers throughout our stay together. My floormates’ farewell party was a monument to the ties we had formed and the memories we had made.
My exchange experience in Munich was definitely life-changing. Every moment, from the first month’s exhilaration to the heartbreaking parting, was loaded with valuable lessons, personal growth, and great experiences.
