Dear Germany, nice to meet you again!
AuthorsMany people say that Germans are cold, strict, insensitive people and that Germany is a too grey and cold country to live in, but I can assure you that both can give fantastic emotions!
Are you curious? Well, I am very honoured to be able to share a little of my experience!
Let me first introduce myself: my name is Camilla, I am 22 years old, and come from Treviso, a city in the north of Italy, but I am currently studying Communication Sciences and Culture at the University of Bolzano. I love travelling, because it gives me the opportunity to get in touch with cultures other than my own and it is a way of always questioning how I understand the world I live in, as well as myself as a person. As a good Italian I have a real passion for food: I like cooking and experimenting as well as trying out new dishes. One of my favourite hobbies is walking in the nature: for me it is essential to spend a few hours during my days in the open air, completely immersed in the tranquillity and serenity that only nature can give. Other passions? Photography, listening to music, spending good time with my friends, reading and swimming.
Berlin, a piece of my heart
But back to us, how did I end up in Germany?
Let’s start by saying that I studied German for eight years at school and always found it a very fascinating language. “German is difficult, it’s hard and it has such ugly sounds!”. True, German is a difficult language to learn, but it must also be said that Germans are geniuses at inventing words just by combining them!
Therefore, driven by the fascination of the language, after school I decided to leave Italy for an Au-pair experience in Berlin. And I literally fell in love. I lived for ten months with a German family, to whom I will be eternally grateful for giving me the chance to learn a lot about the German culture. Berlin and its vibes totally won me over: it is an active, lively city, it is a beating heart that never stops. So many cultures come together and create something always unique. Isn’t that fascinating?
Unfortunately, this first experience was limited by the second wave of Covid-19, which did not allow me to experience the city to its fullest, but no worries, I made up for it this summer during my three-month internship!
And now, dear Munich, it’s your turn!
Dear Munich, we will spend one semester together and I am very curious to find out what awaits me! You are a city yet to be discovered, but I hope I am going to spend a very good time, to meet new people and I hope you will give me many good experiences and memories. I look forward to walking through the Christmas markets under the Christmas lights and drinking Glühwein with my friends, in an atmosphere that I am sure only you can provide!
From Germany that’s all, until next time!
