1. What was your first trip, and how did it influence your love for traveling?
The first trip I did, I don’t remember as well—the very first one. But I think one of the initial ones was when I went alone with my mom to Disneyland Paris. It was the first time I traveled alone with my mom, and I believe it sparked my love for travel. Additionally, my mother passed on this passion to me.
2. What has been your favorite travel destination so far, and why?
My favorite was when I went to Riviera Maya. It was the first time I had traveled to another continent, and I went with my family and my best friend’s family as well. I loved it because it was quite a cultural shock to me.
3. Is there a place you’ve always wanted to visit but haven’t had the opportunity to go to yet?
Yes, I’ve always wanted to go to Greece. But my dream is to go alone, and this is something I always have planned.
4. Can you share an unforgettable anecdote or experience from one of your trips?
For example, when I went to New York this summer and visited the 9/11 Memorial, that was so shocking to me. I think I will never forget that.
5. What are the most exciting and challenging aspects of traveling frequently?
For me, traveling frequently is a way to relax and disconnect from your whole routine. It’s a good way to clear your mind of all your headaches.
6. Do you have a strategy for planning your trips or a list of destinations you want to visit in the future?
No, I don’t have any. I want to go everywhere, so for me, everywhere I can afford is perfect to go.
7. How do you immerse yourself in the local culture when you travel?
I do it less than I want because when I go with my family or a large group, it’s harder to immerse ourselves in the culture. We try to go to local towns, restaurants, and stay in apartments instead of hotels. For example, during the summers, I lived for a month in countries with host families, and I think it was the best way to immerse in a culture.
8. What advice would you give to someone who is just starting to explore the world and wants to become a passionate traveler?
First, I think the best advice would be to go to local restaurants, speak with the local people. Normally, when you visit a new city, you go to the tourist places that are impressive and beautiful, but you miss a part of the city and how the people live there.
9. Have you had to overcome obstacles or challenges in your travels, and how have you dealt with them?
Luckily, I didn’t have many. Having a night in the airport or maybe experiencing some digestive problems has been my worst problems. I cried a little bit, and then I tried to solve it. Always think that all obstacles are going to be passed and have this mentality. I think it helps a lot.
10. What does the passion for traveling mean to you, and how has it enriched your life?
My passion for travel is thanks to my family, especially my mum. They provide me with all the things that I need to travel. They are the reason why I am now doing an Erasmus or why I want to live abroad. Traveling helps you to be more open-minded; sometimes you are so shocked when you are there, but I think this has a good impact on your life, and you gain perspective.
