Munich experiences, the best erasmus semester one could ask
Authors . Night life . Student life . TravelDear Munich,
As the winter semester is coming to an end, it is time to say goodbye.
I have never been good to say goodbye, but I am sure this won’t be the last time I’ll experience this city.
During the last months I discovered a part of myself that I did know about. Since I am 13 I lived away from home but I never really appreciate the place were I was. This time, as always, I was scared that I may not like the city or that I could not find any friend, but actually Munich surprised me with one of the best experiences I have ever had.
Since day one I met people with a similar background as mine, that made me the happiest person during the semester. We shared travels, dinners, parties and laughs. In a short amount of time we managed to know each other very well and, as a family, we were always there for each other.
In this farewell post I could say nothing but thank you Munich for the people I met here, the experiences I could share with them and the possibility to taste typical alcoholic beverages from France, Hong Kong, Denmark and also a new one from Italy, precisely from Ancona.
Besides all the activities and travels that we did together there is one in particular that I will remember as the feature that characterized my semester here. These are all the dinners that we had at my place, which became more like everyone’s flat, where we had so much fun that I could never forget anything about each time we we there together.
Even if it is a little bit personal, I think that the best way to say goodbye is remembering some facts about every person that became part of my family for me here; therefore I’d like to say thank you Rebecca for hating me in the first place and then becoming my best friend, and obviously for sharing all your drama, thank you Julie for being always our guide, for the special salty crepes and your funny faces, thank you Viktoria for every little dance that came of from nowhere and for being the most crazy and chill person I know, thank you Sua for making me jealous every time that you had a flight to go around the world and for making us taste some specialties from Hong Kong and last but not least, thank you Riccardo for being always late and for being the best person to share a dinner with.
I will never forget our trip in Berlin where, everything that one could think about, actually happened. I am already looking forward what could happen during our trip on the road that will bring us from Portugal through France and Italy to Denmark.
When I think about the last months, I think about the special people I managed to know and how much we could learn from each other. I think about the Christmas markets, the glühwein and all the snow that fell from the sky in December, I really appreciated it as I was starting to miss it.
As I went home for the Christmas holidays and my father came here for to days before bringing me home with my sister, I also need to thank this experience for allowing me to have a little taste of father-daughters time that at home is really difficult to share.
So thank you Munich with all of my heart to make me collect wonderful memories and experiences and giving me precious friendships.
In conclusion when I look backward the semester I see all the experiences that I managed to live, but I especially see the past months with emotional eyes and I can’t imagine that I will have to leave soon. I am sure I will remember every moment that I spent here and that I will do my best to cultivate the new friendships I made also when I will be back home.
I could not have asked for a better erasmus experience.
We will surely see us soon,
Giada
