From Copenhagen to Munich
Authors . Student life . TravelMy name is Johanne, and I’m 26 years old. I come from a small town on an island in Denmark, close to beautiful nature and the sea, which I’ve cherished all my life. Normally, I live in Copenhagen, where I study communication at the Danish School of Media and Journalism. But even though I love the city, my dream is to move back to where I grew up one day.
In my daily life, I often miss nature, which also led me to discover South Germany. I wanted to go on exchange somewhere I could practice my German skills while having the opportunity to experience different nature from what I’m used to. So, I found that Munich was the perfect match. And the area certainly doesn’t disappoint. I’ve already enjoyed skiing in Austria for about a month and a half and hiking in the mountains south of Munich.
While I’m here I hope to meet a lot of different people and get to know the city in a different way than if I were just here on vacation. I would really appreciate if I developed some sort of connection to the city and its people. I also hope to find a volleyball team to play on here since I’ve played volleyball for a large part of my life, but the last couple of years I’ve been taken a break. I think it could be fun to take up the sport again while I’m in Munich to meet new people and have fun at the same time. Additionally, I’m looking forward to even more outdoor experiences in the South German landscape. Here at LMU, I have more political subjects than usual, and I’m looking forward to delving into them as a little break from my regular studies. And of course, no exchange stay in Munich would be complete without a few trips to the various Biergärten in the summer.
