The Best Cafés in Munich
City life . Food . Student lifeMunich is a fantastic city with a lot to offer, especially if you love a good cup of coffee or a refreshing Matcha. As a fellow café enthusiast, I’ve gathered some tips on where to go.
Maxvorstadt: The Café Hub
Maxvorstadt is a goldmine for cafés, particularly around the Universität area. It’s the perfect spot to find a cozy place to sit down between classes.
Lost Weekend is ideal for studying. Located right next to the LMU main building, it’s one of the few spots with free Wi-Fi. This place has a great vibe, and it’s packed with students. Everything on the menu is vegan, and in the summer, they have a lovely outdoor seating area. Plus, it’s right next to the popular Fachbibliothek Philologicum.
If you’re into specialty coffee, you have to visit MAN vs. Machine. Their Maxvorstadt location is excellent, and they also have two more shops in Schwabing and Glockenbachviertel, near the Deutsches Museum. The coffee is great and the service is top-notch. The café isn’t huge though, but they do offer some outside seating.
Orno Café is a great choice, especially if you’re a Matcha fan. There’s limited seating inside, but you can sit outside or on the pavement—it might sound odd, but it fits the café’s vibe perfectly.
