My Growth in 11 months in Munich

Authors . Student life

Time has passed amazingly fast and finally my last day in Munich is coming.

Staying here for 11 months is the best experience ever.

Here in this introduction post, I declared two goals for this semester.

  1. Travel around abroad a lot
  2. Be a better communicator in English who can entertain people and connect with them

Let’s see how I accomplished these goals

#traveling

I am so happy that I finally could travel to other countries!

To be honest not as many as I expected, as I found out I need to work on some stuff in Munich, still, I’m satisfied with visiting five more countries eleven cities.

My recent trip -Budapest, Hungary

My favorite thing about traveling is to remember the country’s greetings.

I try to remember and use at least the phrase   “thank you” in their countries/regions.

On the one hand, it is just for fun for a German beginner who loves to use “Danke” “mit Karte bitte”. But on the other hand, I believe this is a polite way to communicate with people that try to speak their language, even a word.

From Roma, Italy. I said “Grazie” (=Thank you) many times during the trip

# English and communication

This semester I tried harder to get closer to more people and to make people connect.

As I’d already been here for a semester, I knew how to make friends with people better than last semester. So I just tried.

It was also a challenge for me that I sometimes jumped into existing communities.

They are something I want to praise myself for.

However, I am not very sure if I became a better communicator.

I admit I stopped trying to learn tips from other people and stopped trying hard to improve myself at some point.

It might mean, at the same time, I got used to communicating with my friends so that I don’t need to “work hard” for that — I could just be relaxed and enjoy talking with them.

With my good friends, at the top of Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany

#unexpected lessons/activities from the exchange

Even though I did not expect that at the beginning of this semester, there are several more things I worked on hand.

  • German
    • I took a German course which is a little bit demanding for me. However, it helped me a lot, not only to learn grammar or vocabulary but also to practice listening and speaking. Now I have a bit of German conversation skills and a bit of confidence.
  • Thinking about future career
    • I learned how the world is diverse and how diversity interests me. Now I want to find a job and hopefully work abroad sometimes.

So, this is the end of my journey.

Thanks, everyone for giving me great memories and opportunities to improve myself.

Severus München!
