MY NEW HOME
Authors . Student lifeHi! My name is Gabriela, most of my family and friends call me Gabi. I was born in Bogotá, I am a Colombian student who, today more than ever, misses her country.
In Colombia I study Journalism and Public Opinion and since january of this year I was trying to participate in the exchange program offered by my university. I always knew that I wanted to come to Germany, but I was also aware of the fact that if everything went well studying abroad would be a huge challenge.
The LMU offered subjects that didn’t exist in my country or in many other universities around the world, so I couldn’t miss the opportunity to come and study here. I was already happy and excited about the academic part of the exchange, the classes and the university in general, and then I realized that everything was in Munich. Amazing city… With an amazing soccer team! I fell in love with the city, with the buildings, the parks and everything that google, Instagram and my television showed me .
I’ve lived my entire life in Colombia, so I’ve never seen snow up close and having the possibility to spend winter in such a beautiful place filled me with expectations. Munich has been a welcoming city, I currently live in the Olympic Village, very close to Olympia Park and I really enjoy it. I love my new home.
I hope I can learn many things in this exchange, not only things related to my classes. I want to grow as a person. I also really want to become a more independent and open-minded student. I know I will never forget this experience and the best part is, I don’t want to.
