Nature is in everything
City life . Student life . UncategorizedThe orange and yellow leaves that are slowly swirling down the trees make the streets look full of colour. The empty trees and the branches that are moving from left to right through the wind. It is autumn! The temperature drops most of the days although some days feel like summer all over again. People start to wear more cloths. The animals start to prepare themselves for a winter full of sleep. You might not think of Munich as a place with a lot of nature but we can find it in almost everything and everywhere.
For instance, walk through the Englisch Garten where you will find less people down the river sunbathing and more people covered in clothes walking along the paths and seeing the beauty of the nature and the city. Whenever I feel like I have a lot on my mind I will make a little walk. For me it not even requires to go to a park or go for a big hike just a 10-minute walk, even through the streets of Munich, is enough for me to calm my mind. I start to not really think about a lot other than take in what I see, smell or hear. From the birds cheeping in a happy way to a leaf that makes his way through the air and falls flattering on the ground. Just taking it all in.
Autumn is one of the seasons where the nature changes a lot. The tries start to lose their leaves to get ready to grow new ones after the winter months. My father has a gardening company and he always told me how these months consist almost entirely of cleaning up the leaves in gardens. Pretty funny how we want our tries to have a lot of leaves and look very green but whenever the leaves fall of the tries we are the first to clean them up.
When I was young me and my family went to the woods every Sunday during the autumn months. Where other people spent most of their Sunday’s in decent clothing going to the church, my parents had another way of cleaning their minds. With my two dogs we went with the whole family to the woods. My father in the lead as he always is and the four of us following him as sheep’s. We enjoyed finding funny looking leaves or branches. And after stormy nights the walk was even more fun because we could find fallen tries to play on. My brother and sister where more of the rough side. They tried to find the highest tries and made contests who could climb the highest. Whenever I tried to participate I of course always fell down. My preference went to finding leaves to make something with when we came back home. Or find chestnuts to make little chestnut dolls with. This was not hard as the whole ground was filled with them.
We always ended our walk with a little bit of a snotty face coming into the little park café to warm up near the fireplace with a big hot chocolate and a lot of whipped cream. As my parents are both nature lovers I could see them feeling so happy and calm whenever we went for a walk in the woods and now I totally get them. I always worry about the things I have to do, to accomplish or to be better in. But whenever I am surrounded by nature I realize what really matters and how beautiful the earth we are all living on, is. As I am writing this I see the first snowflakes falling down and excitement takes over. I think of the Christmas markets, building snowman and going ice skating. Yes, winter is coming!
The next time you walk on the streets try to get your eyes of your phone and just look around. You will be amazed with the amount of nature you can find in everyday life. Enjoy it!
