WONDERS OF THE WORLD
Culture . Sports . Travel . UncategorizedYou know when you are reading one of those National Geographic magazines about ”Beauties of the world” or simply just scrolling down on Instagram and seeing pictures of wonderful landscapes that look like they were photoshopped?
Well, they do exist and together with my family I got to visit one of them: IGUAZÚ WATERFALLS.
Located in between Misiones (Argentina) and Paraná (Brazil), there is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. These waterfalls are formed by 275 jumps, 80% of them located on the Argentinian side and even one of them is recognized to be the highest waterfall in the world known as ”Garganta del Diablo” which means ”Devil’s throat” in English. But before we get to the waterfalls, it is worth mentioning the amazing nature-bonding experience you can experiment on your way to the jumps.
First step off the bus and everything turns green and brown. Abundant trees, flowers and grass… all intact, all without human intervention. Once you start walking through the rain forest you start to feel how your lungs fill themselves with clean air while a floral smell starts to arise.
After a couple minutes wondering through the forest, they offer you to either take an ecological train or continue walking with precautions as wild animals start to take part of the journey. Among some monkeys and snakes we encountered the cute but dangerous ”Quatíes”. A mix between a raccoon and an ant-bear. They were absolutely everywhere!
Getting closer to the waterfalls they offered us a boat trip for the vegetation lovers, which we obviously took as my dad loves to stare at bare trees for no reason at all (I have to admit I enjoyed the ride as much as he did).
Once we were done, we took a second boat… this one would drive way faster and take us into an unimaginable place: inside the waterfalls. The feeling was unique and even though we literally took a shower and breathing nor seeing anything was impossible for a couple of seconds, the rush of feeling all the water above all of us is beyond description.
After all the adrenalin it was time to calm down and admire the views of the waterfalls from the mountains. Hours, days, weeks? It was impossible to get tired of admiring this miracle. Of admiring Iguazú.
