Alles Gut, Deutschland!
Authors . UncategorizedMy name is Lauren, i’m the ripe old age of 21 and I’m currently spending my Erasmus year here in the 80809. (Munich, Germany) When not at the LMU, I’m a BSc student at the University of East Anglia (UEA), in the small city of Norwich.
Like the majority of Erasmus students that I have met here in Munich, i’m from the UK originally. I was born in Chester and grew up there until around the age of 13. Then one day, my Dad came home and said we were moving to random, foreign country, without being dramatic, I was convinced my Dad had torn my world apart, ruined my upandcoming (not really) social life and exiled me to a country in the middle of nowhere. Little did I know that they would be the best years of my life, and the ones I will always back on.
The first country was the Sultanate of Oman, located east from the UAE (which i’m sure everyones heard of). Thats where I spent most of my teenage life, in a sandy, hot, desert. No, I did not ride a camel to school before you ask. From there, we moved to Qatar, then onto Bahrain and finally, we’ve been settled in Dubai for about a year and half now. So thats where home is.
Sadly, this is my second and last semester here in Munich, I’ve had 8 months of confusion, 8 months of constant questioning and 8 of the best months in my life. While I refuse to admit my time here in Munich is coming to an end, I can’t help but wonder whether I would’ve done anything differently, what would’ve happened if I’d gone somewhere else or how amazing would it have gone to a country where the language doesn’t confuse me like there’s no tomorrow?
I thoroughly enjoyed my first semester, even though the weight gain through excessive amounts of pretzels and beer was bad, I will 100% do it all again. Prost to München!
