Equality for everyone
Politics . Society . UncategorizedDid you know that women earn for the same amount of work in the same company up to 20 percent less salary than men? On the one hand, the differences arise due to the level of education, the work experience or years of service but on the other hand there are no explanations for that phenomenon.
In my opinion men and women should be treated the same. Every person has the right to be accepted as he or she is, there shouldn’t be any differences between gender nor between age, social status or education. Of course, same wages in different jobs are not possible due to different education levels or working conditions. But it should not be the case that for exactly the same kind of work different wages exist. For me that’s for sure the suppression of the female gender. Possible reasons can arise due to family obligations. In the age of 25 to 35 most of the women decide to have children. This decision has a big impact not only in their personal lives but also in their working career. During pregnancy and after the child is born, women are not allowed to work under normal circumstances or not at all. This means that they, based on the law, have to take a break from work for at least three months. From my point of view this is anyway way too less time, if you think about all the hardships the woman body has to go through. Most of the woman can’t go back to work after those three months and decide to extend their maternity leave to one year or longer. In case of the break from work, women have the disadvantage, that they can’t gain working experience during that time. If you look at the whole thing, women who work and have children are exposed to a double burden. Full time job but part time and then being a housewife needs a lot of additional energy. Instead of oppressing those women, they should be respected. This should be recompensed at salaries.
I also see a problem when it comes to talking about wages. People don’t want others to know what their salary is. It’s off-limits.
I think that might be due to historical reasons. Money used to be important and still is until this day. The only difference is that today people show their wealth by consumer goods. Expensive cars can be leased, expensive clothes can be bought in outlets and the newest mobile phones can be paid monthly by installments. You can’t really tell about their wealth. The only thing to figure it out, would be to talk about the salary.
But people aren’t talking about money, it is socially ignored to talk about each other’s salary. That is for me one indicator that should be improved to enhance equality between women and men. People should talk about what they earn and this in consequence would improve equality, because it will come to light that men and women don’t have an equal chance for a good salary, even though we are already in 2019.
