Goodbye Munich
AuthorsIt’s on a rainy day that I have to say goodbye to Munich… I’m a bit sad actually. I look forward to returning to France and meeting my friends and family whom I haven’t seen for over three months. But at the same time, I would have stayed a bit longer here. My stay here has gone by so quickly! There are so many more things I would have liked to do, and many more places I would have liked to visit. But instead of crying and lamenting, let’s remind ourselves of these three months in Bavaria.
First, I would say that Covid did not spoil my stay. That was one of my concerns. Of course, I would have preferred to attend face-to-face classes rather than staying alone in my room. But online classes went well, if you forget about the computer and connection problems. Because of Covid, I was also afraid I would have difficulty meeting people. But that also went well! I mainly met other exchange students coming from all over the world. What an experience! I was able to discover different ways of living and thinking, and I also learned a few words in Spanish or Italian.
I was also able to discover Munich. The main monuments, museums, and of course the famous Biergartens! It is a good way to discover the city: nothing is worth eating and drinking like a Bavarian. I also travelled a lot. I went around some lakes, like Ammersee, Chiemsee or Spitzingsee, and I even swam there. I also went to different cities: Würzburg, Bamberg, Regensburg, Landshut, etc.
So if I come back to my introduction post, let’s see if I achieved my goals:
– improving my English: done / improving my German: almost done
– discovering Munich: done
– discovering Bavaria: done
– acquiring new knowledge in communication and interculturality: done
– meeting new people from all around the world: done
As you can see, I really enjoyed my stay in Munich. I did what I was expecting to do, and so much more. But now, it’s time to say goodbye. All good things must come to an end, as they say. But I know that something will never come to an end: the fact that I love Munich and Bavaria. I will for sure come back, perhaps only for a holiday, or perhaps for longer – who knows what life will bring? So this is not a farewell post, but rather a “see you soon”.
I hope you enjoyed my posts this semester, and that I gave you an overview of the life of an Erasmus student in Munich.
Cheers,
Elsa
PS: I think I can add an item to my list of goals:
– the Erasmus mobility as the best experience of my life: done
