Hellohello everyone!

City life . Culture . Excursions . Student life

My name is Malin and I’m from Sweden. Most people that I meet abroad think my name is “Molly” or “Marilyn”, but that is not the case! Malin is a very very Swedish name, so it’s not strange at all that people mispronounce it abroad.

My hometown, Stockholm.

Oh well, what about me then?

I grew up in Stockholm, which is the capital of Sweden. A very beautiful city in my opinion, it looks a bit like Munich actually, although we have lots more water in the city center. I grew up with my parents and my two older siblings, who are actually eight and ten years older than me, in Sweden we call it “sladdis”.
A “sladdis” is the youngest child that is more than 7 years younger than the sibling closest to their age. Even though I’m a bit younger than my siblings, we have always been very close and spend a lot of time together.

In my freetime I like to hangout with friends and family, watch theater and exhibitions, and go out for dinner + have my favorite drink – prosecco!

Travelling! Me in the streets of New York a few months ago.

So what led me to Munich and this blogpost?

After I graduated high school, I went to an acting school for two years, which was very fun and developing. When acting school ended, I moved to London with my best friend and started working at an Interior Design store, right in the heart of Notting Hill.

London is definitely a city I would love to live in again sometime. I love the vibe, the big city pulse and the creative atmosphere. I always loved to travel and ever since I lived in London, I’ve been wanting to move abroad again and get to know a new city. So when I started studying Journalism and Digital media back in Sweden, I wanted to take the opportunity of applying to go on an exchange semester.

I’ve never been to Munich before, but I heard a lot of good things about it. Now that I’ve been here for more than a month I can say that it’s actually been even better than my expectations. I am looking forward to continuing exploring the city and surroundings here in Munich!

Until next post,

see ya!

Hiking in Zell am See! One of the best things about Munich is the closeness to the Alps and other beautiful places.
