Fiona in Munich:)
UncategorizedHello everyone, my name is Fiona and I come from Hong Kong. I’m a bit introverted at first, but I’m very outgoing once I get to know it. I went to City University of Hong Kong for my last year of my bachelor’s program in media and communication, so I took the opportunity to come to Munich as an exchange student. In Hong Kong, I lived with my mom, dad and brother, and our language was Cantonese, one of the most difficult languages in the world to learn. It is more complex than Chinese, as Mandarin has only four tones, while Cantonese has nine. I love the language of my country and I love Cantonese songs. If you have time, try listening to Cantonese songs and watching Hong Kong movies, it will be great and You can get a clearer picture of Hong Kong’s culture.
My home country is a booming international city that I really loved. You can see restaurants with dishes from different countries and many people from different countries, dim sum is my all-time favorite. Hong Kong is known as the Pearl of the Orient, and the view of Victoria Harbor is impressive, if you want to come to Hong Kong, remember to go there for sightseeing! Other than that Hong Kong is a place where Asia and foreign cultures converge. From the thriving urban areas to the countryside, there is always a unique and beautiful side to it. That’s why I always take a hike whenever I have time to breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Hong Kong is also a place with humane, and you can feel it no matter where you go. On Hong Kong Island, there are a lot of old historical buildings, which are very unique and good for taking photos. Even though I have been there numerous times, I never get bored.
I chose Munich because I think it is a beautiful city and it is one of the most important cities in Germany. Although it is very superficial, I chose Munich as an exchange student because of its beautiful scenery. Before I came to Germany, I had the impression that people were not so friendly, but after I came here, I was proved wrong! The people are not only very friendly but also very enthusiastic. The learning style here is very different from that in Hong Kong, which makes me enjoy studying even more. In the coming months, I hope to learn more about the local culture, meet more people and learn more about my profession in the classroom. I’m looking forward to it!
There are many famous sights in Munich that I have not yet visited, but I am planning to do so! Some of them include Neuschwanstein Castle, King’s Lake and so on. Besides, I also like the food in Munich, especially the pork knuckles, which are delicious and not too expensive. Although I didn’t stay here for a long time, I will definitely cherish the people and things I met here and enjoy every day of my stay here!
Besides, I have a little hamster;) She is so cute!
