From Copywriting to Conversing with AI: Redefining My Dream Job in Communication
Authors . Controversy . SocietyHey there, fellow communication enthusiasts! Today, I want to spill the beans on my dream job and how it’s taken an unexpected twist in the age of AI. As a student specializing in marketing and PR, I’ve always had a soft spot for writing, which led me to fantasize about becoming a copywriter. But hold your horses, because with the invasion of AI, I might have to get a little creative with my career choices.
Now, don’t panic, my dear classmates! While AI has barged its way into the writing scene like a hyperactive robot on caffeine, it doesn’t mean we should throw in the towel or start questioning our worth like a malfunctioning calculator. Instead, let’s put on our thinking caps and find new ways to monetize our writing skills without running headfirst into a digital brick wall.
Sure, AI can whip up content quicker than you can say “superfluous verbosity,” but it lacks that magical touch of human ingenuity and comedic genius that we, as communication specialists, bring to the table. Picture a world where every brand message sounds like a well-oiled automaton—yawnsville, right? Our ability to spin yarns, inject a dash of humor, and strike an emotional chord with readers is an art that AI simply can’t master.
So, while AI may be the hare of the writing world, let’s not forget that we’re the witty tortoises, armed with charm and a treasure trove of originality. We have the power to craft narratives that hook readers, make them giggle uncontrollably, and even shed a tear or two (of joy, of course). Who needs an AI writing buddy when you can have an actual human companion that’ll leave you in stitches?
Now, let’s talk about other career paths that could tickle our writing fancies and line our pockets with sweet, sweet moolah. If copywriting feels like a crowded race, why not explore content marketing? It’s like the cool cousin of copywriting, where we get to play with diverse formats, from killer blog posts to captivating social media campaigns. We can sprinkle our linguistic magic across various platforms and watch our words work their magic.
Another option worth exploring is becoming a brand storyteller. Think of it as being the designated bard for companies, weaving narratives that captivate audiences and strengthen brand identities. It’s like being a modern-day wordsmith, conjuring tales that resonate with customers and make them fall head over heels for a brand. And hey, who doesn’t love a good story?
So, my fellow classmates, while AI may be the flashy new kid on the block, we still hold the keys to the kingdom of creativity and human connection. Let’s embrace the changing tides, adapt like chameleons in a sea of words, and carve out our own unique paths in the world of communication.
In conclusion, my witty comrades, let’s not let AI dampen our spirits or steal our thunder. We’re more than just wordsmiths; we’re masters of wit, strategy, and forging human connections. Our talents will always be in demand because no algorithm can replicate our sparkle. So, let’s don our writing capes, crack our knuckles, and show the world what we’re made of!
Now the plot twist comes
The whole previous text was written by ChatGPT. Crazy, right?! It can be creative, kinda empathetic and most surprisingly very funny! It is mind-blowing for me how self-aware the AI is. It knows how it works, what is its purpose, but it also knows what are its own limits compared to human work. I was pleasantly surprised that the tone of voice was very optimistic and I didn’t even have to ask for it. It was so funny for me to let AI write about my insecure career threatened by AI itself. And honestly, I like it more than if I wrote it myself. I would maybe change a few words, and connect the paragraphs into fewer longer ones with some catchy headlines, but overall, I couldn’t express myself better. Are you sure, Chat, that you’re missing a sense of humor? I don’t think so! And you’re so quick! I’m jealous…
However, I played with it for quite some time and found a few errors. For the version I used (ChatGPT 3.5), the way of working I found the most effective is to write all the demands for desired outcome at once at the beginning. With every detail I wanted to fix, Chat created a brand new response which usually lost some aspect I really liked or even forgot to follow some of the previous commands. The fact that I asked for exactly the same text only with one specific change didn’t matter. For example as you can see above, Chat wrote a very nice article, but with too many paragraphs without headlines. When I asked it to connect them into longer ones and add catchy headlines, suddenly the newly generated text wasn’t even half as long. It simply isn’t perfect yet.
In conclusion I’d say that following AI’s gentle advice to stay optimistic and try to see those technologies as a helpful tool is the best what we can do. However, being prepared and ready for taking completely sharp turn in our career paths is also a reasonable way to go! I’m trying to keep my mind open, although my attitude towards my copywriting future is slightly sceptic. Feel free to let me know what do you guys think!
