Exchange adventure for a danish girl

Authors . Student life . Travel

My name is Katrine and I have a few nicknames, but the most commonly used are Trinner or Kate. I am from a very small town in Denmark called Uvelse with only 1000 residents, so I would say that I am from the countryside, but I study in the second biggest city of Denmark called Aarhus at the Danish School of Media and Journalism.

I wanted to spend an exchange semester in Munich, because I have always wanted to live in Germany. When I was around 15 years old, I went to a german school in Denmark, and my german level increased, and since then I have always wanted to move to Germany, to use the german language that I have learned. I decided that I wanted to take a gap year and move to Germany to work for board and lodging, but then when I was about to start my gap year, covid happened, and it wasn’t safe to travel to other countries. Therefore I choose to go to Germany during my study.

The reason why I choose to go to Munich is because of the Ludvig Maximilian University. I have heard that it is on the top 10 list of the best universities in Europe, and therefore I really wanted to go here.

My german level is not as good as it once were, and therefore I am glad to finally be able to practice and learn more german.

The expectations I have for my semester abroad, is to increase my german level, to get to know people from around the world and make new friends, to get to know the german Media industry and to become a better journalist.

I wouldn’t say that I have any special plans for the next 3 months, but I’m looking forward to getting to know the media industry in Munich and Germany in general like I wrote as one of my expectations.
