Falling in Love with Munich
City life . Culture . Germany . Student lifeHi my name is Minsun Kwon, but you can call me Mia. I’m from South Korea and am currently an exchange student at LMU, majoring in Communication. Back home at Yonsei University, I’ve been focusing on the same major, so I’m really excited to see how the classes here differ from my experiences in Korea and what new perspectives I’ll gain.
I feel lucky to be here in Germany. I’ve been in Munich for about two months now, and even though there’s still so much left to explore, I’ve already fallen in love with this city. I have a feeling I’m going to miss it so much once I head back to Korea.
I didn’t really drink much beer in Korea, but here, I’m drinking it quite often. The beer gardens in the Englischer Garten have become one of my favorite spots. I also love watching the dogs walking around the park. I’m a huge dog person, and it makes me miss my dog back in Korea so much.
Music is another big part of my life, and one of the best things about being in Europe is getting to see artists who rarely tour in Asia. I’m heading to Hungary soon to see the Scorpions. They’re a group my parents love, and since I grew up listening to them, I naturally became a fan myself. I’m also really looking forward to seeing Kaytranada perform right here in Munich. I recently saw the Munich Philharmonic, and it was an incredible experience. Plus, I’m going to Austria to see an F1 race soon, which I’m super excited about. I’m having so much fun exploring different cultures here.

Seoul, where I’m from, is a really busy city with about 10 million people. Since I’ve lived there my whole life, I’m really enjoying the “slow life” in Munich. It’s so green, peaceful, and just a great place to live. I love meeting new people and sharing stories. Time is going by way too fast, so I want to make the most of my remaining time by meeting more people and traveling to new places!
