My second hometown, München

Uncategorized

Hi, I’m Seoyeon Choi from South Korea. I’m majoring in Cultural Anthropology in Korea but I’m interested in media and communication as well. I have been living here in Munich for 7 months and this is my second and last semester as an exchange student. Since I arrived in Munich in the end of September last year, lately I’m so happy with beautiful sceneries and warm weather.

Making unforgettable memories

From last semester, I’ve met a lot of good friends here. I could share many new things with international friends and could learn a lot of german cultures from local friends. From my first trip with my friend(she has already gone back to her home country… so sad) to new year party in Köln, where is my buddy’s hometown, I made a lot of unforgettable and precious memories. Oktoberfest, Christmas markets, weekend trips, „Frohes Neues“… Even though it was quite cold last winter, there were warm memories!

The time of finding and being myself

Living alone in Munich, I felt a lot of indescribable feelings. At first, it was somehow loneliness because I had to leave my friends and family and it was my first time to live in another country. But after going through several difficulties, now I became really strong and got inner peace! Sometimes I missed my things and wanted to go back to my home, but I decided to go through and then gained lots of lessons from myself. It wasn’t definitely easy so far, but I made it 🙂 I can say that living in another country is the time of finding and being myself. It’s truly priceless opportunity.

Meetings and goodbyes

In February, my family visited me and we traveled Europe. After two weeks of trip, I had to say goodbye to my family again. A couple of days later, I also said goodbye to my international friends. It was sad that I had to meet and say goodbye over and over again. But, at the same time, me and my friends are planning to meet one another even though we are living in different continents. It must be a part of lessons, right?

Therefore I’m looking forward to meeting new people and saying goodbyes, because I think I can do it well from now on 🙂 For the left three months here, I’ll try my best to study, enjoy and be happy in Munich. Since I got a lot of things from my exchange student period, Munich became my second home town!
