A new attempt in life: from Shanghai to Munich
Authors . UncategorizedHello everyone. My name is Zhao Tianrun, from Shanghai, China. As an exchange student, I will study in the LMU for one semester. I was pursuing my master‘s degree in communication science in my hometown university, and will still study the same major in LMU. I was born and raised in a northeast city of China, Dalian, a place with a big ocean and beautiful sightseeing, the weather here is quite the same with Munich full of rain. The day I was born was the biggest rain in the history of Dalian,so I got the name Tianrun,TIAN means sky, RUN means raining. Actually, I don’t like the rain that much. But the funny thing is, no matter where I went, it rained more or less the same day.
The reason I chose to study at LMU is very simple because my hometown school and LMU have a one-semester exchange program and the program is all about communication science. Before coming here, I didn’t know much about Munich, or Germany, All I know is that, as everyone says, the Germans are punctual, serious and strictly abide by all kinds of rules. Besides, it was my first time abroad, what it’s like there? If I will get used to the food and the lifestyle? it’s more of a worry than a thrill. I’ve been living here for a month now, and I’m starting to like the city and get used to it, except on Sunday when all the stores are closed and brezel ( Because the first time I tried this bread, I thought the white granules were sugar, so I picked the one with the most white granules and took a big bite, ever since that time I never had the courage to try it again)
I am a person who likes to travel and take photos. This semester, in addition to learning new ideas about communication science at LMU, I hope I can spend other time traveling to different countries, taking good photos and trying local food. In the month since I’ve been here, I’ve been to Hallstatt, Bad Ischl, Salzburg, Frankfurt, and Berlin. In the future, I also plan to go to France and Morocco, which I look forward to.
Any special plans for the next 3 months? The truth is I do have three of them.
- Seriously finishing my course paper
- Taking a trip to six places, especially if one of them is Italy or Greece.
- To be invited by a German to his or her house for a traditional German dinner (I’m curious to know what a German family has for dinner, except for the roast pork elbow everyone knows about)
