Theater Enthusiast
UncategorizedIf we feel like having a deal of talent, a grown personality, we want to put ourselves on a test, a great opportunity to do so and to release the inner child is, for sure, making art! In this case Marina Davidovic tells us what theater for her is and how she plays a role in a theater company in Munich.
The stage, before Marina started rehearsing.
1 Why does being an actress on a stage please you?
I play myself in real life twenty-four hours out of twenty-four, so, to me, playing another personality is a source of amusement. I like having fun while being on stage, putting my personality aside and be just someone else.
2 When did you start getting interested in theater?
I would say around three years ago, while I was sitting in my room, I enjoyed interpreting some characters that I liked from movies. I was interpreting their emotions, behaviour and tone of voice. At that moment it was not me in the center of attention, but another character. Also, when I arrived in Germany, I felt like I had a compelling opportunity from a theater group, whose actors have a good background, they know how to put up a show.
3 In which kind of character do you see yourself the most?
I really feel comfortable with comedy scenes, characters that are confused, scared and that are not adaptable at the environment. To me, confusion is funny.
4 What kind of character are you rehearsing for in this company?
I ought to bring on stage a character of a clumsy, confused lady through which the audience is amused by and not feel sorry for her being so. At the same time, she is very independent, and she knows what she is doing.
5 Have you ever joined a theater company in Osijek, namely where your home university is, and performed in a show?
I joined the Osijek theater company but was very bad and disorganized, I had only two classes with them. Besides, I never performed in a show. My first show will take place here in Munich. Performing in another language will be improving, but also, I put myself under stress because I must study a script in German and not in my mother language.
6 Would you see yourself as an actress in the future as a real and full-time job?
Now I would say no, I have talent and passion for it, but I just want to have fun with theater, express myself and see it as a source of entertainment. I do not feel as professional as on a level where people earn from it. If it would be a job, for sure it will be stressing, therefore would be ruining my idea of making theater.
7 When will be and how do you feel about your first exhibition?
My first performance will be on 15th February 2024 in ‘’katholische Hochschulgemeinde an der Technischen Universität München’’. I hope not to fail and forget the words. And the main reason for that is the language. German is not my mother tongue; therefore, I am more prone than other Germans in the company to make mistakes while acting.
