Self-Introduction

Uncategorized

Hello! My name is Esther, I am 23 years old.
I live and study in Aarhus, which is Denmark’s second largest city despite having only 300,000 inhabitants. Aarhus is a true university city, which means the population is very young. That’s why there are lots of student events and traditions, making the city a fun place to live. Here I have to mention, the ‘boat race,’ where different study programs compete against each other in the university park, with 40,000 people coming to watch.

From the ‘boat race’ in 2024.

Originally, I come from Ringkøbing, which is located on the Danish west coast, and therefore I have always loved the sea! A fun fact about Denmark is, that you can never be more than an hour away from the nearest beach, since the country is so small 😀

I study journalism at the Danish School of Media and Journalism, where I am currently in my third semester. I chose journalism because I’m fascinated by the opportunity that you get to work with many different topics and really immerse yourself in them, together with experts and people with firsthand experience.

And even though I have great times in Denmark, I had no doubt that I wanted to go on exchange in Munich. That is because I love Southern Germany and Austria. In Austria I have worked several winter seasons as a ski instructor. After that, I also got a fairly understanding of the German language.

Besides the language, the slightly warmer weather (compared to Denmark) and not least Munich’s beautiful areas both in and around the city are a big plus.

During this semester I expect to learn a lot of language, both English and German, which I would like to improve.

In addition, I hope for many fun and great experiences, which would not happen back home in Aarhus, where everyday life is much more planned and busier. Here I enjoy having plenty of time, and a relatively new daily life, where there is a spacey calendar.

I arrived in Munich at the beginning of March and have already been on several trips outside the city. I hope for more of those since Munich’s central location makes it so easy to travel to many great places in Europe.
