My Introduction

Research@IfKW

My name is Nicholas Bodenham, and I come from Italy; Rome, to be more precise. I’ve lived there
since I was born and have done my studies in there too, from my preschool all the way to my
current studies in university.
The city itself is well known for its vast history: from its origins in the Roman Empire to more
modern times, Rome is incredibly large and multicultural, there’s so many people living here!
Italy itself is also very famous for its food: some of the more famous ones are probably Pasta and
Pizza, obviously, but some of my favorite italian foods are the street foods: more specifically, Olive
all’Ascolana and Supplì. The former are fried olives with a meat filling inside of them, while Supplì
are fried rice nuggets with cheese and tomato sauce inside: there are variants with different flavors,
and I suggest you try all sorts of them if you ever go to Rome!
As for me, my name might sound a bit odd, probably not Italian at all: it’s because I’m actually half
Italian and half English; my father is from London, while my mother is from Italy. Because of that,
I’m able to speak both English and Italian fluently, and I’m able to use both languages perfectly!
The reason I went to Munich is because of Germany as a whole: it’s one of the few countries that
I’ve traveled to in my life, as I went to Berlin as part of a field trip back in high school, and I’ve
loved visiting it so much that I wanted to go back to it; only thing is I didn’t know if I would go to
Berlin or somewhere else, and it looks like I got to Munich!
As for anything related to my semester abroad, I’m hoping to meet new people, form new
connections with them and hopefully have a lot of fun in general: this city so far has been nothing
short of amazing and I’m really grateful I could attend this exchange program! I definitely wanna go
and attend a bunch of different events; the Fruhlingsfest is one I’m super curious about, and I cannot
wait to see it next week!
