The Rhythm of Link
UncategorizedGuten Tag! I’m Jeonghyeon Lee from South Korea. But just call me ‘Lily’ because I understand how hard it is to say my name. Even for natives, it can be tricky: for example, my aunt still always call me Jeongyeon and it’s been about 20 years! I want to focus on communication, not pronunciation.
My Home: Finding the Special Flow
I am from Ulsan, a city on the southeast coast of Korea. It is famous industrial city with Hyundai Motors, Hyundai Heavy Industries and big oil refineries. Some people think it is ordinary or even boring because there is no famous tourist attraction. But I found its special side. Most cities sleep at night, but refining factories must run 24 hours a day. That’s why you can see bright flames high up on the stacks, which are part of the continuous operation. This creates the serious work of the day and the beautiful, shining spectacle of the factories at night. Finding special link in the ordinary flow of life is my personal approach to the world.
My Passion: Shared Rhythm, Fast Connection
I chose to study Media Studies at my university in Seoul. Because unlike my hometown, Seoul is the capital city where people from all regions of Korea gather and connect. This move was part of my journey to actively seek out and learn from diverse flows of people.

I think this environment made unique cultures by linking people. For Example, when spring comes, students gather under the cherry blossoms for a picnic to break the ice. And in winter, when it snows a lot, we go out and slide down a big hill on campus. Also, the mascot of my university is a Lion, and Lion statues are placed all around the campus. We even have a rumor that if you climb one of the statues, you will become a campus couple (CC). I often see freshmen try this at night (because it is officially forbidden). However, be careful! There is also a rumor that if you choose the wrong statue, you will never become a campus couple. These are the special and sometimes funny ways my university community links up and shares its unique identity.

On a personal note, my main hobby is dancing. Every semester, I join a new team with strangers. At first, everyone is shy, but the awkwardness quickly disappears as we focus on a shared rhythm. I think that shared rhythm is the fastest way to connect and build trust. Isn’t this the real power of non-verbal communication and collaboration?
My Destination: The Central Channel of Flow

Media is the best architecture for connection—it links the world instantly. When I thought about Europe, German, especially Munich, was like the ‘Central Channel’ or ‘Media Hub’ for me. It is located right in the middle, allowing countless users and information to pass through and flow here. I was curious: How does communication work in this unique place with such a strong flow of cultures? I came here because I expected to experience and learn from this complicated network of communication. (And, of course, I must be honest: Munich is a wonderful place because I can travel easily to many other countries from here!)
My Dream: Designing the Rhythm of Communication
My long-term dream is to be a professional communicator who can design effective communication flows between different fields and people. I hope to learn the rules and strategies for linking diverse groups by finding their ‘shared rhythm’. I want to share and link ideas with all of you and improve my communication skills step by step this semester.
Vielen Dank! I look forward to connecting with everyone!
